Lise Abitona is a self-taught Filipina artist from Misamis Oriental, Philippines, currently based in Rijmenam, Belgium.
Her artistic journey began after her academic path in law, eventually leading her to teaching and discovering a deeper connection to visual expression. What started as a personal passion evolved into a lifelong pursuit of storytelling through art.
Lise’s work is deeply influenced by her roots and her experience of living between two worlds. Her paintings reflect themes of identity, memory, and belonging—capturing quiet moments through still life, landscapes, and animal portraits. Working primarily with acrylics and watercolors, she incorporates linear and crosshatching techniques in a contemporary, post-impressionist style.
Over the years, she has shared her art through exhibitions across the Philippines and Europe, created mural works, and contributed to the creative industry as a designer. She has also mentored aspiring artists through workshops and speaking engagements.
Beyond the canvas, Lise draws inspiration from her everyday life—her love for the ocean, travel, and nature all find their way into her work.
Through her art, she invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with stories that transcend borders.
